MASTEP Evaluation Summary
This product was evaluated in at least one third-party study. See MASTEP Evaluation Summary.
In Brief:
Filterra is a bioretention system consisting of a concrete box lined with a soil filter media, mulched and planted with native vegetation appropriate for the site. Water flows through the mulch, soil and plant layers and drains out underneath the unit into a stormdrain system. It can also be modified to infiltrate water into the subsurface, aiding in groundwater recharge. Filterra uses sedimentation, filtration, infiltration, chemical and biological processes to treat stormwater. It is designed to treat up to 90% of annual runoff but any overflow should be diverted into an inlet, swale or similar discharge. Resuspension of sediments is possible if the unit is allowed to be in a sump condition.
