In Brief:
The Isolator Row is a series of either SC-740 (85.4” x 51.0” x 30.0”, storage 45.9ft3) or SC-310 (85.4” x 34.0” x 16.0”, storage 14.7ft3) StormTech chambers covered with geotextile fabric. Sediments settle and are filtered out as stormwater passes through the unit. Open bottom chambers and perforated sidewalls allow vertical and horizontal flow out of the chambers while capturing and storing sediment from the flow stream. Flow into the unit is controlled by a diversion manhole with overflow weir connected with a 12-24” diameter pipe near the bottom of the end cap. This manhole allows access for inspection and maintenance as well as controlling flow via the overflow weir which allows excess water to bypass the chamber. The Isolator Row sits on a 6-18 bed of No.3 gravel overlaid with a woven geotextile filter fabric (GEOTEX 315 ST). This fabric provides a media for stormwater filtration and is designed to prevent scour of the underlying stone, even during maintenance procedures. A non-woven fabric (GEOTEX 601) is used over the chambers to provide a filter media for flow coming through the perforations in the sidewall. The unit is designed to discharge through an angular stone bed (porosity of 40%). Water can either percolate or be collected and discharged with a perforated pipe in the stone. Some form of pre-treatment is usually required for this system. This can be a deep sumped manhole with a 90 º bend in the outlet, baffle boxes, swirl concentrators, site grading with bio-swale/grass filter strips or other more sophisticated filtration devices.
