In Brief:
SorbtiveMEDIA is a patented, green-tech granular filter media designed to capture and retain high levels of dissolved, bio-available phosphorus from water. It functions to remove high levels of phosphorus through physically filtering sediment and sediment bound pollutants, with the added functionality of sorbing dissolved phosphorus. SorbtiveMEDIA engineered from natural aggregates with a specialized high specific surface area, aluminum-oxide coating that provides long-lasting sorption capacity and fast reaction kinetics. It is inert and inorganic so it does not decompose, nor does it desorb phosphorus or leach alternative pollutants (heavy metals, pH, other chemistry constituents), which remains a concern with a variety of alternate filtration medias. SorbtiveMEDIA is available in a variety of granular filter media gradations ranging from sand-sized material to small gravel, providing significant flexibility to be incorporated into various Best Management Practices (BMPs).
